Born and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia this bilingual 24 year old has never stopped creating. From painting on the walls in the kitchen to sketching in her high school textbooks, Akira has always found a way to express herself artistically. It was in her high school History class, where she found her love for poster design, with an assignment to analyze old Canadian propaganda posters. This is where she realized the importance of type and illustration.
Graduating high school with an arts bursary, she continued her education by taking Applied Media and Communication Arts at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). During that year, she excelled at all aspects of the course, graduating with honors and at the top of her program. Drawn to type and illustration, she continued her education at NSCC by taking a two year Graphic Design course. During those two years, she learned to worked efficiently in industry standard design programs, such as Adobe’s InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
Akira is in a constant state of creation, you’ll never find her not working.
